About Mr. Rose
Hello, I am Mr. Rose and will be your child's music teacher for this year. I am very excited to be in my hometown working with your young musicians, fostering their understanding of musical concepts and teaching them to have a life-long appreciation for music.
I started my career in Southfield, where I taught everything from Elementary vocal/instrumental music, to middle school beginning band, to high school competitive marching band for two years. In 2013, I started teaching in Warren Consolidated Schools. This year, I will be teaching music at Black and Wilkerson Elementary! I graduated with a degree in music education from Wayne State University, where I served as the marching band arranger and undergraduate conductor. I earned my masters degree in music education from Oakland University, focusing on research, educational psychology, and instrumental music.
Outside of school I am a freelance woodwind performer (saxophone, clarinet, flute) as well as a guest clinician and conductor for community bands and school bands. I also enjoy teaching private band lessons and reading about the latest teaching techniques and famous rock biographies. I have completed the NEA Teacher Leadership Initiative training and am a frequently requested conference presenter through Oakland Schools ISD and the Michigan Music Educators Conference. I am currently finishing up Google Educator Level 1 training and love integrating technology into the music classroom.
In my free time, I love to perform recorder duets with my wife (also a music teacher), spending time with my newborn son, Harrison, and going for long walks with my dog, Laila!
